19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a challenging year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after March of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to question if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional victory, took control to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued four early-game opportunities in a close final set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
